Kukulcan | Spanish Language School

Spanish for Heritage or Bilingual Speakers

Learn more about Latino roots and fine-tune your Spanish.

Students with Latino roots who want to learn more about their heritage and improve their formal knowledge of the Spanish language can benefit from an Immersion Spanish class in Mexico that is especially designed for heritage or bilingual speakers of Spanish. Students who grew up speaking Spanish at home often communicate well in Spanish at an informal level but have trouble writing and understanding more complex grammar points. We help you polish your Spanish so it more closely resembles the language of educated native speakers.

At Kukulcan, we take enormous pride in our Hispanic heritage, and we love to share it with Latino students. Culture classes help you understand the history and social issues that have influenced the development of Mexican culture, as well as the literary and artistic achievements of the people. Practical hands-on workshops teach you about traditional cooking, music and dance, arts and crafts. Typical excursions take you to historical and archeological sites of importance, local markets and fairs, museums, parks, or to a colorful and folkloric village to experience a regional festival.

Mexican Literature and History classes

For advanced Spanish students (typically at the 300 or 400 level in universities), we offer courses on Mexican literature and history. To determine if these courses meet the requirements of your home institution for credit toward the Spanish major, talk to your academic advisor. Contact us for more information.
